It is beyond my wildest dreams to think I have been doing this since 1984. The concerts are now attracting over 400 people and raising over $10,000 for the homeless and the hungry. The concert this year is Saturday, September 17th, 7:00 P.M. In addition to 7 time Grammy nominee Bili Redd, Maria Jacobs comes in from Cleveland to sing with my trio.
Three months ago we did a concert for breast cancer and I met Stephanie Spruill, the best entertainer I have worked with and she agreed to join us. Stephanie has sang with David Bowie, Donna Summer, Glen Campbell, Julio Iglesias, Michael Jackson, Neil Diamond, Nancy Wilson, Olivia Newton John, and many more.
I just picked up 484 tickets so please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected], or call me at 310-378-5813 and I will mail you tickets immediately. If you can’t make the concert, but you would like to donate, I will give the tickets to the jazz department of the Boys & Girls Club of San Pedro. A concert flyer is attached.
Thanks for all your support all these years.

Benefit Concerts
In 1984, Richard started doing concerts to benefit local and national charities. He has performed in more than forty live concerts at El Camino College, The Norris Theatre, the Hermosa Civic Center, and the James Armstrong Theatre. The concerts have raised over $250,000 for the Association for Retarded Citizens, The American Cancer Society, The 20-30 Club of Torrance, Kiwanis International, and Seaside Church and the Xerox Community Involvement Program.
Over the years, Richard has been joined in these concerts by many talented and experienced musicians. Richard is pictured at right with Jack Bone, bass and Jay Burrid, drums.
The Richard Sherman Trio 27th Concert for the benefit of Seaside Community Church of Torrance was a great success, raising over $10,000. The concert proceeds will benefit 1736 House, Bread for the World, Community’s Child (local family services agency), Habitat for Humanity, and many other worthy causes.
Richard is an expert pianist and composer and attracts the highest caliber musicians to join him. He was joined by Adam Cohen, a stand-up acoustic bass player, John Stuart, percussionist, and two vocalists, Maria Jacobs and three time Grammy award winner Bili Redd.
