BOBBY TYNES has been playing saxophone with The Richard Sherman Trio during the past several years. Bobby was born and raised in Cambridge MA, where his interest in music began at the age of six. After experimenting with the guitar and then drums, he eventually found his passion and musical voice when he began playing the saxophone in the fourth grade. Within one year he began performing in front of audiences and has never stopped playing since. Bobby has performed with great musicians such as: Danilo Perez, Howard Levy, Najee, Victor Wooten, Etta Jones, Nestor Torres, Bob Moses, Norman Connors, Gene Jackson, and Alan Dawson. He has also opened up for Betty Carter, Diane Shure, Stevie Wonder, Branford Marsalis, Gato Barbieri, Bella Fleck and the Flecktones and others. His love affair with music and the saxophone has taken him all over the United States and abroad — touring with bands in France, Belgium, Amsterdam, Italy and Poland. His recording experience is extensive and he is constantly seeking out new projects with musicians nationally and internationally. Bobby Tynes’ dedication to music is equaled by his dedication to education. He holds degrees in songwriting and education, and will be completing work on a Master’s degree in education administration in December. He has taught music since 1984 to students aging between 6 to 65 years. Bobby is a serious teacher and musician, who believes in balancing fundamentals with creativity and imagination. “Music is a gift that needs to be shared with the world; musicians should never keep their talents to themselves, they’ve got to spread it around.”
